The World Nuclear Transport Institute (WNTI) is pleased to announce a change in its Board of Directors. As of 11 September 2024, Alison Hammond succeeds Michael White, marking the end of a notable tenure. Alison Hammond brings her extensive experience and fresh perspective to the organisation.

Michael has been a key figure at WNTI, contributing to our mission of ensuring the safe and secure transport of nuclear and radioactive materials. His leadership has been instrumental in guiding WNTI through various challenges and developments in the nuclear transport sector.

Alison Hammond, has a distinguished background in the industry, with a career marked by achievements in the technology, defence and nuclear fields. Her appointment is seen as a strategic move to continue advancing WNTI’s goals in an ever-evolving landscape.

While the WNTI team feels a tinge of sadness at Michael’s departure, their gratitude for his years of dedication is immense, and the memories of their collaboration are cherished. WNTI now looks forward with anticipation, as they welcome Alison into her new role, confident that her contributions will elevate the organisation’s global influence. The team are enthusiastic to establish a new and collaborative relationship together.

This transition is expected to uphold WNTI’s commitment to driving the highest standards of safety and security in the global transport of nuclear and radioactive materials, with Alison’s guidance and expertise marking a new chapter for the institute.

“Being part of the WNTI Board has been a thoroughly rewarding experience, allowing me to collaborate with numerous experts in Nuclear Transport—an area I certainly wouldn’t claim expertise in. Nevertheless, the warm reception I received and the respect for my opinions demonstrate WNTI’s commitment to evolving and embracing a more diverse future. With the new chair and forthcoming changes on the Board, I am genuinely excited and optimistic about WNTI’s future. There is a significant opportunity for members to actively shape this future and contribute to WNTI’s direction, which should be wholeheartedly encouraged.

I will dearly miss the WNTI Team, who have consistently looked after me and ensured I had everything I needed to fulfil my role. The team’s ability to care for individuals while efficiently supporting the broader WNTI organisation was evident, particularly in the successful delivery of PATRAM. Despite the challenges posed by COVID, the event was held a year late and in a different country from their base—a remarkable achievement and a highlight for me. I wish WNTI every success in the future and will continue to follow its progress with keen interest.”
