About the Woman in Maritime Survey 2024

Complete Survey
The second global Women in Maritime Survey is being conducted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA International).

This Survey is run every three years to obtain baseline data on the number of women in maritime and oceans fields and the positions they occupy.

This Survey supports implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by having comparable data that will assist in creating programmes and proposing policies that will increase the participation of women in maritime. This helps in promoting a more diverse and inclusive environment in the maritime sector. A report containing the aggregate numbers will be available to all interested parties via the IMO and WISTA International websites.

The Survey has two different questionnaires, one for Member States and another for the Industry, which covers private companies, non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations, and private maritime training institutes/academies.

The current Survey will run from September to end-December 2024. The final Report will be published in May 2025.
