Core Power Announces US-Anchored FNPP Program

During a New Nuclear for Maritime Summitt in Houston, Texas, in February, Core Power Announced that it planned to launch a program, titled Liberty – a U.S. anchored maritime civilian nuclear program. The program will include modular construction capability and development of the necessary regulatory, insurance, export control and supply chain frameworks. These floating nuclear power plants (FNPP) will be produced in shipyards and would be manufactured as power barges to be anchored in ports or other locations along a coast. The company expects to be able to commercialize the FNPPs over the next decade.

As noted in the Member News for January 2025, Core Power previously announced that it would team with Glosten, a naval architecture and marine engineering firm, to design a floating nuclear power plant (FNPP) to power ports in the U.S.
